The Choreographer
“La Papillon is a beautiful romantic score that very rarely gets used. It’s about adolescence and coming of age. It’s about metamorphosis and the journey of a butterfly. It’s a very traditional tutu ballet and embraces my love of theatre and my love of classical ballet. It’s a joyful and timely project.”

The Story
Under the watchful eye of Ms Puttyfoot (played by the fabulous David McAllister AC), spirited school boy Jack (played by Matthew Solovieff) vies for the attention of the new girl in school, Sophie (played by Sophie Burke), while others tease her. Later that day, the students go on a school excursion and visit the butterfly enclosure at the Zoo. Jack tries to impress Sophie. Tensions rise, and lead to a transformative journey into a new and colourful world.
